Uggs and Tuna Juice

If you had some brand new Ugg slippers and your friend accidentally spilt Tuna juice on them. (oil from a can which slipped out of her hand when opening said Tuna). Would you expect the friend to replace the slippers?

No.

Moen · 14/03/2026 22:31

Did you use protector on them before wearing?

VenusClapTrap · 14/03/2026 22:32

I’d put them in the washing machine and see if that sorted it.

Doggymummar · 14/03/2026 22:32

No

likelysuspect · 14/03/2026 22:33

Are they suede and do they have protector on them?

SleafordSods · 14/03/2026 22:33

Absolutely not.

user2848502016 · 14/03/2026 22:33

No, it was an accident. Your fault for buying slippers that can’t be washed

rainbows40 · 14/03/2026 22:34

The clue is in your sentence...

itsthetea · 14/03/2026 22:34

No

SalmonOnFinnCrisp · 14/03/2026 22:35

No....but I would be HORRIFIED they did that.

watchingthishtread · 14/03/2026 22:36

No.

I did the same with olive oil. Kitchen spray and a damp cloth got it out.

Tuna Juice protector ?

Joking. They don’t have protector on as far as I’m aware.

YABU for saying tuna juice 😱

dudsville · 14/03/2026 23:22

I thought this was going to be a starter list of defining features of a new sub culture.

Anyway, no, i'd be annoyed, irked, but it was a mistake.

Auroraloves · 14/03/2026 23:24

I wouldn’t ask. It was an accident. I always take my suede trainers off when I’m in the kitchen as my last pair got ruined by food spillage

BauhausOfEliott · 14/03/2026 23:25

No.

Elbow Grease spray on the oil spot, leave it for a bit then buff it off vigorously with a damp cloth. That will get it out. Alternatively, cover the stain with a thick layer of cornflour / corn starch or baking powder and leave it overnight, then brush it off in the morning and should have absorbed the oil.

Gowlett · 14/03/2026 23:30

I used to get upset when something new got a bit scuffed, or a bit ruined, no longer “new”.

But now I just take it as my cue to stop being precious & wear the feck out of it.

Idly browsing MN as can't sleep. I assumed Tuna Juice was a cool brand of joggers and clicked on the thread to see if I'd like the style to go with Uggs.

Youcanpayit · 14/03/2026 23:33

Accidents happen, it was goingto happen at some point. Chuck them in the washer, they're already ruined and stinking of fish so it's not going to spoil them any more and it could fix them.

InterestedDad37 · 14/03/2026 23:47

Tuna Juice Protector is my new band name 🎶😀. Watch out for us in the hit parade 🎶

CarbGoading · 14/03/2026 23:49

Uggs and Tuna Juice sound like nicknames a couple who hated each other would use 🤣

JMSA · 15/03/2026 02:14

I would have to pop them in the machine, preferably with biological powder. You can spray them with all the stuff you want, but it won’t fully get rid of the smell.
Good luck! And no, I wouldn’t expect the friend to replace them.

I think in that case, you can’t expect your friend to replace them.

The Ugg cleaning kit is really good and should get it straight out, and when it is out, use Ugg protector!!
