Gosh - doesn’t look like one of our native ones, with those stripey legs & all! 😳

There's a good spider identification group on Facebook. They share pics of spiders found in the UK. Maybe try on there xx

Google lens says it’s a European Garden Spider, also known as orb weaver. Pretty common, and harmless. Hopefully an expert will be along soon!

Blarn · 13/03/2026 15:31

Golden orb? The ones you usually see sat in the middle of big cobwebs in your garden.

outerspacepotato · 13/03/2026 15:33

Looks like an orbweaver. I had one that built a huge web, it was gorgeous in the sunlight.

ClaredeBear · 13/03/2026 15:33

Ratsbananas · 13/03/2026 15:34

ClaredeBear · 13/03/2026 15:34

RollOnSunshine · 13/03/2026 17:32

Ah yes I know that one. It's called the giant red spider of death. They can jump 7 feet and have 20 babies at a time.

Have a nice evening.
