To ask for school uniform adaptation?

DD is a hot sweaty child.
School uniform in the summer is a regulation top which is 100% polyester. She gets a rash everytime she wears polyester - even from swimming costumes.

AIBU to ask if she can wear a similar style top but in cotton? Happy to sew on school logo if they can give me a badge?

Primary or secondary?
State or private?

Absolutely you can ask. Tell them she has an allergic reaction to polyester, they have to accommodate it.

Are the regulation tops embroidered with the school logo? Do they have a badge they can give you? My school wouldn’t. Nor would
my child’s.
Can she wear cotton layer underneath? Or it’s that too hot.
They should make accommodations but the logo thing might be tricky.

State secondary

Sorry! Unreliable wifi!

They probably won’t have a badge but you can cut one off an old / second hand too and sew it on. I think it’s def worth asking

I would suggest testing out the top first. Technical fabrics made of polyester can be very cooling and a completely different beast to a cheaply made shein item, and I think an everyday uniform item is quite likely to be made from one of these technical fabrics these days. Your daughter, in future years if not now, would thank you for finding a way for her to wear the regulation top of at all possible.

I had years of wearing a similar dress to the regulation one. It was always a source of embarrassment for me although my mother insisted it was much nicer.

It's worth checking whether any of the local embroidery personalisation shops have your school badge.
There is a local firm here that puts the school badge onto lots of clothing items. So you could get the logo embroidered.
The new school uniform rules about only 3 items plus tie is meant to be live soon so this may also help.
