AIBU to find this situation downright odd?

Colleague we [self and small team] used to know well over a decade ago got back in touch before last Christmas - she has after that job move and working some more apparently retired very rurally. Had tracked us down via SM etc despite big company restructure and rename/premises move in meantime. Sent a chatty news filled email, got one back saying she will be in our city seeing family regularly and will definitely drop in/ do lunch and let us know beforehand
Since then, crickets [yes we tactfully enquired at one point: nowt]! Seems a bit odd going to all that trouble then not actually following through. Or AIBU?

Well, it’s perfectly possible she’s emigrated, is ill, is dealing with a seriously ill family member, or that any number of unforeseen events might have pushed a visit way down her list of priorities…?
