Why does UK allow US to use its bases for Iran war ?

Trump has not been very friendly toward the UK and the EU in general. Why is the UK still allowing the US to maintain bases or conduct operations related to the Iran conflict here? I feel it’s unnecessary for us, especially given the way Trump is handling us.

YABU - it's the right thing to do

KS was clear that the bases are to be used for defensive action only, not offensive (although I'd be the first to admit that the US government is not very trustworthy...)
So I suppose the calculation is that it's a relatively minor concession for the UK to make, and might in return allow us to get some kind of useful quid pro quo from the US, e.g. lower tariffs or a bit more soft influence.

Honestly though that's just a guess, there's probably all kinds of information that most of us aren't aware of.

Who knows with Starmer changing his mind every 5 minutes? I heard Yvette Cooper on R4 this morning, she didn't seem to know what our position is either. Apparently offensive defensive attacks are fine now......but they weren't on Saturday.

Because of NATO.
We are either in or out.
The USA spent 3.9 billion in Ukraine defence.
It contains Russian expansion.
We don’t have to join in with American military forces like Blair did but we should do the minimum as an ally. Trump will be gone in a couple of years.

Ukraine is not in NATO.

As for NATO, it is primarily supposed to be a defensive alliance. Yet in this war us is the aggressor. And we are an accessory in the death of countless innocent civilians.
