I don’t know why I am not shocked but am certainly horrified watching the Dirty Business Documentary Drama about the Water Companies filling our rivers and seas with raw untreated sewage for years and years and the horrific consequences. Like the Post Office scandal and many others it feels like we’ve almost come to expect and accept these cover ups and lack of government protection or accountability.
How do the people responsible sleep at night knowing they have directly caused the death of an innocent 8yr old girl and the eventual suicide of her father amongst a hole host of other horrendous consequences.
I know most of us feel anger and frustration when these cover ups come to light but how can we as the public prevent further similar situations. Do we need to take more accountability as communities and as a nation to not allow this shit to keep happening. What do we???
yabu - we are all too busy with our own lives and it’s the governments responsibility to protect us
yanbu - as a nation and communities we need to take more responsibility, get more involved, take a stand collectively and use people power to make our voices heard and acted upon
