People stealing from Greggs

Has anyone seen the videos of people stealing from Greggs? Seems to be constant, I’ve witnessed it myself a couple of
times, staff don’t do anything though can’t say I blame them. I was in Croydon the other day and noticed that one of the Greggs now has a security guard. However just now I saw a video online of another Greggs in Croydon and 2 men attacking the security guard in there?! Attacking someone over a sandwich! AIBU to think they should keep them behind the counter?

They should definitely up their game.
If they’re going to do it, target Pret. It probably has a street value.

My town is so rough, we do not have a Pret.

Broken Britain.

Don’t know what has happened to society over the last few years. All of a sudden, no one cares. They steal, they have no respect, they lie and have no morals.
I worry about the future to be perfectly honest. Stealing from Greggs, people steal from everywhere and it doesn’t seem to bother them at all.

I don't understand why the police don't arrest people for shoplifting anymore?!

jetlag92 · 25/02/2026 21:39

I work in a type of shop. If people shop lift from me - they usually put them item back and apologise.

No room left in prisons.

Yes, so unreasonable to think shoplifting is bad...

People act like it’s new for some reason. I worked in Greggs when I was at uni years ago and it happened then. It wasn’t constant but it did happen. Usually baguettes and the donuts in boxes in the middle. We obviously didn’t have security and we were all women so there’s no way it was worth chasing a man down for a baguette.

I think it’s because it’s constant now, I seen a video of a man literally loading black bags from the fridge, when that was full he left and came back with another one. Never seen anything like that, maybe someone grabbing the odd item
