Another school holiday with another school virus

Fed up of yet another crappy virus from school in yet another school holiday.

I feel ya. Since Covid, it seems it's one illness after another. Personally, I think they're all Covid strains anyway. We're roughly on Day 12 since dc first had fevers. Still sneezing, slight cough for them. Rundown, mild headache and sinuses affected for me.

Covid doesn’t help obviously:
It’s an additional virus frequently around so is going to result in more illness than pre-covid
It can create havoc with immune systems
The number of children and adults with long covid keeps increasing
The pressure to attend when ill and contagious seems to have ramped up to ridiculous levels, meaning more people are unwell more often

YANBU although brace yourself for the patronising comments asking how clean your house is or telling you not to moan about the odd cold etc

We’ve been battered by illness since the beginning of December - first a nasty D&V which got al of us, then DS had hand foot and mouth, then we all got the cough/cold from hell, since new year we’ve had random temperature/cold type things and right now I’m listening to DS starting up with a new cough as he sleeps. I’m bloody exhausted and have had 5 days off work in the last 2 months.

Honestly, if people had told me how often kids (and you!) get sick before I had them, I wouldn’t have believed them.

Sadly viruses during the holidays seems to be fairly standard here.

I think schools have always been a great environment for viruses, but it’s just got so much worse in recent years. It’s not the odd cold, it’s really crappy illnesses. It seems common to hear people saying they can’t shake x or y off.
