New sofa & matching chairs

This is not an AIBU in any shape or form, but posting for traffic. We're having a new fireplace with the tv on the wall above it.
We've chosrn a new 3 seater sofa in a dark nickle colour. This will go opposite the tv/fireplace wall.
Two armchairs will go either side of the room, not quite dead opposite each other. Want to move away from traditional 3 piece suite, but can't make up my mind.
Is it normal to have a settee, matching armchair & 1 accent chair these days? Or 1 settee & 2 accebt chairs, matching each other or not?
A 3 seater & 2 seater will not work in our lounge.
Thank you in advance 🙂

Does the to have to be on the wall above the fireplace? It’s never comfortable as it’s much too high to watch comfortable. If you put it elsewhere, it might suggest different configurations of furniture? How many people will regularly use the room?

I think you can have whatever you want. We currently have a sofa and three random non-matching chairs. In our last property, we had a sofa and matching armchair and then an accent chair. I’m not sure there is a ‘normal’ really as it depends on the room.

Go for what is in your heart OP, not in your headSmile. I would have one pattered chair & pick out a colour from it for the other one. Would quite like them all different styles too! Have fun choosing.
