Some people must live in a bubble

Lots of people on the radio this morning advocating for more funding for x,y,z. None of it critical infrastructure. Each time I was wondering do they just live in a bubble where the NHS is not on its knees, LA on the verge of bankruptcy etc?

I think this is on our politicians to be honest.

They need to present a cross party stance where they all agree clearly and loudly that there is a problem.

They can then explain what levers they have jointly as they all have the same options open to them..

then they can present what solutions they have individually as they will differ.

Clearly the all fought the last election hoping to win but none of them really said we are in a state of managed decline now.

I actually read the Labour manifesto and it didnt promise much at all but people seem dissappointed they havent fixed things. (I think people just assumed it would be like last time in a boom and didnt check)

To be fair, I think that’s what Labour did try to do. The whole ‘doom and gloom’ spiel immediately after they got into office. In hindsight that was probably their attempt to use the landslide victory to start the conversation. It got panned by the media though.

I think there’s also disproportionate effect geographically and across generations. There’s definitely the appetite from older generations to keep the violins playing to allow them to enjoy their time.
