I have very distinctive eyes, almost like a turquoise colour. I inherited them from my mother. She inherited hers from her father. My daughter has the same.
My mother keeps saying my daughter 'has my eyes', 'my' meaning mum's. Technically its true but we could all attribute our features to our grandparents! I always said I got my eyes from my mum, and similarly I'd say my daughter has my eyes. My mum says it like I had nothing to do with it. When I say 'she got them from me' she just looks at me blankly like I just explained the theory of relativity to her in Greek.
I am not that bothered, just irked, before anyone accuses me of not having sufficiently grave problems :-)
