To be worried about skiing this weekend?

There’s been a lot of skiers killed in avalanches this year (more than usual) almost all by skiing off piste even though warned not to as the conditions have not been safe.
It’s currently dumping snow on the alps, several resorts closed today and the avalanche risk is 5/5 which is extremely unusual.
i know they they are blasting to artificially create avalanches and I would never ski off piste anyway but I have a “what if” niggle about someone else skiing off piste and then causing a huge avalanche.
Anybody care to reassure me please?
ps I am well aware that this is a first world problem but despite loving the sport I am no risk taker

If you don't feel comfortable then don't ski this weekend. I'm sure there are other things to do.

Are you worried for yourself or someone else?

Obviously don’t ski off piste, but even if you are a good skier, sign up with the ski school. The guide of your group will be very familiar with local conditions and will only take pupils to safe areas.

My DSs and two DGSs are in France at the moment and their resort was totally closed today. I am trying not to be nervous about what they might be doing tomorrow.
