If I were Lady Starmer

If I were her I’d tell Keir to step down now - the stress must be horrendous and it’s only a matter of time . Can’t imagine the impact on the family

Maybe she's made of sterner stuff. Maybe she recognises the fact that his ministers have confidence in him. Maybe she knows that a week is a long time in politics. Maybe she knows what this job entailed when he signed up to it. Maybe they had conversations about what they would do in the event of tricky times well ahead of him becoming Prime Minister. And maybe, just maybe, she supports in him in his chosen career full stop.

PrincessofWells · 09/02/2026 18:18

And do you take advice about your professional career from your husband whereby he tells you what to do . . . ?

ApolloandDaphne · 09/02/2026 18:20

I imagine she can say what she likes but at the end of the day it is not any business of hers. It is up to Starmer and his cabinet to work out what to do.

HRTQueen · 09/02/2026 18:20

I think when you are in a relationship with a senior politician you step back and accept that family life comes second.

there are far worse situations for a PM to be in, MP’s not backing you is a guarantee at some point during your leadership

HappyFace2025 · 09/02/2026 18:20

Just as well you're not Lady Starmer then.

Dunno what it’s got to do with her 😂😂

maybe she has bigger issues, he doesn’t give off a sexy, powerful aura tbh, more haggered and tired

Quite.

BeckyBloom · 09/02/2026 18:25

Making Mandelson ambassador in Washington was a grave grave mistake. The important question is why? His judgement is highly flawed at best… at worst … traitor to his country!

THANK GOD .. another Keir Starmer thread, I was worried this hour was going to pass without one.

BurntBroccoli · 09/02/2026 18:29

What an odd post!

Starmer is feeling upbeat today it’s been reported, and MPs are now rallying round as they’ve probably peeked over the precipice to see that there is no one ready to take to the lead.

Plus the majority of members want him to stay.

Sorry to disappoint you.

What gossip is this?

What gossip is this?

Its been everywhere except main stream media for years. Have a google. I suppose you could start with Ukranian rent boys for the most recent..believe what you will!!
As for the underwear gifts for Mrs S well thats all in the Lord Alii files that were publically released I believe.

Freysimo · 09/02/2026 18:39

I've always assumed it's a lavender marriage, or pale mauve at the very least.

PandoraSocks · 09/02/2026 18:45

🙄

Strange how this gossip only began after Labour won the GE. The marriage of convinience (sic) has lasted a long time and produced two children.

PropertyD · 09/02/2026 18:49

Stramer is gay? Not heard that one…

Why would Starmer need to be in a lavender marriage? It is not the 1950s and he married long before he became a politician.

yorkshiretoffee · 09/02/2026 18:58

What about if you were one of Starmer's children? Or maybe his dog? Would they be saying get on with it?

He doesn’t have a dog. He has cats.

Terip · 09/02/2026 20:57

He’s going nowhere. It’s become nothing but a massive pile-on, and logic is rapidly going out the window.

paddleboardingmum · 09/02/2026 21:01

So many people say he's a nice guy. She's probably just supportive of him as most people would be of their spouse. He's better than the alternatives so I hope he stays put.

I'd call someone who met secretly with former Russian agents and deliberately ditched security to do so a traitor. Way more malevolent, and only a small part of the story, but the folk calling for Starmer to go will conveniently forget that.
