DS making valentines gifts for friends - normal?

DS, 11, is making his 3 main friends valentines cards as well as one big one for his best friend. He also said he’s going to buy him some heart haribos and give him them at school on Friday. I think this is really sweet but is it normal for children (especially boys) to give valentines gifts to friends? I’ve always viewed it as a romantic day only.

I’m in ‘not typical’ camp. That’s not to say there is anything wrong with it but it’s not typical for a boy of that age. I’d be wary of how this will be received and if/how that will affect your DS.

I wouldn’t say it’s ‘normal’ but I know if my high school son received one he’d be lovely about it and wouldn’t bat an eyelid! Do you think they are really for girls but he’s hiding it from you as he’s embarrassed?

After Valentine's there was 'Gal'entines and now there's 'Guy'entines apparently. Possibly your son has started the latest trend!
