I know they had lots of regular people in it too - it was really good! But agree it wouldn’t have made sense without the commentary providing context

that said, I don’t remember the closing ceremony, wasn’t that less good?

They rolled out the Spice Girls standing on Mini’s IIRC.

I seem to recall they also used old footage of Freddie Mercury on big screens and, naturally, he out performed everyone else in the show.

Sadly one direction were in the closing ceremony iirc. I went back home that day.

they did two tech rehearsals on the Monday/Wednesday to audiences before the OC on the Friday! I was in event services at the Olympic stadium which means I was there for the opening ceremony and all of the athletics. I managed a summer school at the time and had to be back at work the day after the closing ceremony! Was hilarious though, a few of us went out into Stratford and had a few drinks in an all night casino after the last night of athletics!😂😂

I was so tired after the afore mentioned casino trip and spending the rest of the night waiting for the tube to open before I made my way back to Surrey where I was staying and picked up my stuff that I spent the whole night crying my eyes out and being upset that the whole summer was over. Lifelong friends were made there though! Currently chatting away to them now too! 😭
