Video doorbell without monthly fee…..

JacketPotatoAvecFromage · 04/02/2026 20:08

Can I please ask for your recommendations for a decent video doorbell that you don’t have a monthly fee for? One with an app I can use when out of the house & a good camera angle ideally.

Any suggestions please?

I’d also be interested to know this. And how it all works really.

bigfishlittlefishtupperwarebox · 04/02/2026 20:14

I have Blink. If you also get the sync module you can insert a USB and it records the clips on that so no monthly fee

EmeraldShamrock000 · 04/02/2026 20:15

My Dsis has a stand one from Amazon with no fee. The quality isn’t great.
The ring is €3.99 a month, it’s money well
spent. Ring doorbells often have a 50% sale on products so it balances out.
I bought mine on Black Friday.

TidalShore · 04/02/2026 20:16

I have Eufy with the home hub to store recordings on

Geepee71 · 04/02/2026 20:16

We have Eufy, love it.
Four other members of my family have purchased the same one.

You don't have to pay a monthly fee with Ring, you just can't record. You can answer remotely and interact with someone or do a live view with no subscription.

teambrief · 04/02/2026 20:21

We don’t have a doorbell but do have a tapo camera. There is an app and 12 months subscription was £29.99. Tapo is on Amazon or Argos.

FluffyMcFluffFace · 04/02/2026 20:22

Another vote for Eufy. No fee, and easy to use/look at footage etc on the app.

I have a blink too. I use the Sync module and a usb to record everything.

I have 4 outdoor cameras, (2 doorbell, front and back, and 2 in gardens) as well as 5 indoor cameras.

It records everything really clearly and the video doorbells work really well. Outdoor cameras only need 2 AA batteries every 18 months or so.

If you buy a minimal set, they send lots of in app offers, often much cheaper than Amazon, so it’s quick to build a system.

We've recently swapped from Ring to Eufy, although have a camera by door rather than a video doorbell. No subscription fees and I think the camera quality is better, less missed things and also it identifies whether it is a vehicle/person/animal etc.

sevenpercent · 04/02/2026 20:24

Agree with everyone saying Eufy.

AgMaggy · 04/02/2026 20:25

Eufy here too

TheCurious0range · 04/02/2026 20:25

Eufy , we also added a couple of cameras and a light over time. It's great

BellyPork · 04/02/2026 20:25

Can I please piggyback on your thread and ask whether anyone has smoke alarms on the same app as their video doorbell?

Mixerfixer · 04/02/2026 20:28

Just get a camera that links to an app on your phone. There's no need for,a,subscription and it doesn't have to be a "doorbell " camera.

iamme21 · 04/02/2026 20:48

I’ve got a Tapo, popped an sd card in and that’s it. Comes complete with chime, you can adjust the camera angle, the area it covers, people, pet and vehicle detection. Was only £42 and I’m really happy with it

Incandescentangel · 04/02/2026 21:00

Aosu is a good one. Rechargeable and a good picture. I bought mine from Amazon.

Another vote for Eufy!
We bought the E340 in December and are very happy with it. 2 cameras, one for faces and one for packages. Battery life is good and the app works well.
Small downside: it's listed as working with Google assistant but that's no longer the case as Google changed some back end stuff. So we had to buy a chime as well, chime has additional storage for clips so it was a bonus. Everything was on deal so it was £100 for both.

Imlyingandthatsthetruth · 04/02/2026 21:25

And yet another very satisfied Eufy user!

VillaOfReducedCircumstances · 04/02/2026 21:59

Apologies for the stupid questions 😄 -

Are the cameras inside the house rather than outside?
How are they powered?
How do they save footage? Are they attached to something?

Camera mounted outside on the door frame.

Rechargeable battery or can be connected to existing bell wiring.

Footage saved in the app.

My outside cameras have 2 AA batteries which last about 18 months. They send images and video via WiFi to my phone and record onto the usb for permanent sake keeping. I can delete them if needed.

UNDERCOVERELEPHANTINTHEROOM · 04/02/2026 22:12

I have AOSU and am very happy with it.
Good quality picture, picks up movement really well, rechargeable device that just needs a C type lead.
Easy to fit, easy to recharge, no fees!!

I like it so much, I got an AOSU camera for the side of my property and that's great too, although that is hardwired to the mains.

Carnation25 · 04/02/2026 22:20

We have a Eufy aswell - has proved reliable for over 2 years so far.
