There is literally no topic on MN that someone cannot turn into a cheating situation.
You could post that your husband has gone from two sugars to one and the very first reply will be ‘his head has been turned, I’m afraid’. Case closed. Cancel the cheque. Line up your ducks.
What’s really interesting is the hierarchy this creates. No matter what else is going on: emotional abuse, coercive control, financial strangulation, just plain old misery - cheating is positioned as the ultimate crime. The worst possible thing. The one unforgivable sin.
WHY though?! Why are so many people utterly obsessed with infidelity in a way they are not with cruelty, neglect, or fear? Why is a furtive text seen (by some, clearly not all) as more catastrophic than years of being disrespected, undermined, shouted at, or worn down?
