Vinted one - AIBU not to collect parcel??

disclaimer - I’ve never not collected a parcel.

Bought an expensive item from a seller with good reviews. They’ve posted the item to me but have now re-listed the exact same item with the same photos. I’ve messaged to ask what they’ve sent me with no response, am worried they are sending something that isn’t authentic and it will be a faff to get them to agree a return.

Sometimes the money is released to the seller even if you don’t collect the parcel. I’ve been having a massive clear out and have had a few parcels not collected for various reasons. Sometimes I get the money and the parcel comes back to me, other times the parcel isn’t returned and I don’t get the money either. The seller didn’t used to get the money for uncollected parcels but that seems to have changed although it’s not consistent

Could the seller have had two of the same item? The communication is a problem though, if that was the case they should have just said that. Screen shot your messages.

SpikeyHousePlant · 28/01/2026 08:32

I would collect it then clic the
There is a problem’ button (or whatever it is)

and send the screenshots to help centre.

teaandtoastwouldbenice · 28/01/2026 08:32

Possibly they have two items- but the listing and photos are identical and it doesn’t look like another item. I’d happily be reassured by a message saying don’t worry I just have two and what is on route to you is genuine. Gut says scam but I guess we’ll wait and see what arrives. It should arrive in a day or two…

film yourself opening the parcel. Start with the box and label and keep filming in case it’s not the item you ordered. She probably just had two but I’d be cautious too.

Sweetiedarling7 · 28/01/2026 08:54

Collect it and then take action if necessary.
Vinted doesn’t allow sellers to list two of the same thing at a time so I have done exactly what your seller has done myself when I actually had three of the same item brand new for a genuine reason.
Doesn’t indicate fraud of any sort.

liveforsummer · 28/01/2026 09:09

The lack of communication is worrying if she’d previously been quick to respond but I rarely have any luck getting a response from sellers on Vinted. Puts me off buying

Rainbowsandlollipops1 · 28/01/2026 09:12

When you say expensive item - was it one of those that you can pay extra for Vinted to authenticate?

Auroraloves · 28/01/2026 09:13

I’d be wary. And I couldn’t be bothered trying to get a refund

StrangerThingsHappenRoundTheTwist · 28/01/2026 09:17

I've done the same, listed the same photos just after selling an item because I don't want 2 of the same item listed at once but they look the same

I'm also notoriously crap at replying. And don't necessarily pick up messages every day, Vinted doesn't also alert me

teaandtoastwouldbenice · 28/01/2026 09:31

It isn’t being authenticated. It’s £70 - expensive for me.

RollOnSunshine · 28/01/2026 09:56

Two of the same makes sense. There is no point taking different photos and it is sensible not to list both at the same time - Only one listed creates more urgency for buyers.

What is their feedback like?

teaandtoastwouldbenice · 28/01/2026 12:43

Feedback is really good which I why I felt confident in buying from them. The photos are identical.

Do this. Probably it's just the seller has two items but if not this will give you proof more than pictures.

amylou8 · 28/01/2026 13:15

Is it something commonly faked? Was it very cheap for what it was? I agree it's suspicious, but equally the seller may have two, especially if selling on an established account. You need to collect it really as there's a chance you might not get refunded if you don't. If there's a problem the raise an issue once you have it.

DaisyChain505 · 28/01/2026 13:25

Collect it, open it, report if it’s not the item you ordered.
