I'm not sure there's anything you can do, are they going to your junk folder?

It might not be a virus, your email account may be on a list somewhere

I can tell it’s a virus as it’s pretending to be the bank and all weird. No going straight to my inbox which is annoying :(

Have you run a virus and malware checker?

LightYearsAgo · 27/01/2026 17:20

In an old email account I get all kinds of nonsense but it's not a virus, what makes you think they aren't just phishing emails?

FarmGirl78 · 27/01/2026 17:30

What makes you think they're from a virus rather than just being bombarded with phishing emails? I'd say someone has just got hold of your email address and sold it on. Have you posted your email address on any discussion forums or filled in any surveys recently? A virus affects your computer, not just your email account.

Have you logged into your account through proper channels weather by clicking on a link? You might not be in your "real" inbox.

I clicked. Link by accident ? On my phone? Now keep getting all these spam looking emails?

But spam and virus aren't the same thing, thats why we're asking specifically why you think it's a virus

FarmGirl78 · 27/01/2026 17:47

So you might not be in your "real" email account. If you've clicked on a link it might have taken you to a fake set-up that LOOKS like the Gmail/yahoo/,outlook whatever sign in page, and what you've actually done is enter your email address and password, which is now recorded by criminals. You need to access your email account by going through the PROPER route, not through a link, and better still on a completely different device. Change your password as a matter of urgency. If you try and change it through your existing log-on (which sounds like it might be a fake look-alike website) then you'll have just given criminals your potential new password too. ACT AND ACT QUICKLY. DON'T RESPOND TO ANY TEXTS OR CONTACT FROM YOUR BANK UNTIL YOU'RE SORTED. IF YOU NEED TO CONTACT ANY BANKS DO IT USING THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD.
