I have IBS, which is well managed and rarely gets bad any more. Last November I started to have virus symptoms, like a normal cold but with extra catarrh; this developed into additional (or I caught) gastric issues including nausea and discomfort.
Now the gastric issues are severely debilitating; I get stomach pain (just above my belly button) after exertion or eating. This then seems to migrate to left (my left) of my belly button and ends up giving me IBS (left hand side of my abdomen) a few hours later. First GP said it’s ‘just’ IBS, second one noticed the stomach pain is bad and has sent for a h-pylori test. Oh and the virus/cold symptoms keep flaring up!
The thing is, I had the same symptoms about 3 years ago; they checked everything, including my pancreas! Can an ulcer flare up and down like that? Or is it a second infection? I don’t know if they specifically did an h-pylori test but I had an endoscopy – although I was sick EVERYWHERE and so don’t know how thorough it was! They ended up saying it’s ‘just’ IBS then, too… I think they probably think I’m a bit neurotic…
Thanks
