Suggestions for 30th birthday?

Theda13 · 22/01/2026 16:53

My 30th birthday is coming up in the next few months and I have no idea what to do.

My family don’t do surprises and want me to pick what I want to do, which is fair enough. The issue is that I can’t think of any ideas.

Any suggestions are welcome!

I don’t know what your situation is (boyfriend etc.), but I’d probably pick a holiday with friends, or a romantic trip with my partner depending on my situation.

Hard to say without knowing your personality. For me I would prefer a quiet evening out with my DH, others might prefer a party, weekend away etc.

Do you want something with all of your friends and family (like a hall party) or separate things (like a nice meal with family and afternoon tea with your friends)? Kids or no kids?

ABBA Voyage!

Travel for sure!

At 30 I didn’t want anything I couldn’t buy myself (within reason!) other than memories.

Sorry, I didn’t mean to drop feed. I’d like to travel, but limited budget-wise. I’d hate a party, but would rather go somewhere special instead.

ABBA Voyage!

I did that two years ago. We loved it!

My husband organised a trip to York for a special birthday of mine packed with all the popular sights like York mueseum, chocolate factory, dungeons, ghost walks etc. We had a blast!

We took DDs for special meals in London when they turned 30. They chose that. Travel - I would still say London is special. Or the Cotswolds has great hotels and is pretty.

I usually do an 1/2 night stay on Air bnb, they have some budget friendly stays, you can find unique places as well!

Update: DP and I planned and booked two nights away in London. We’ll be going to see a show on the West End and will have afternoon tea at Claridge’s. In between, we’ll be going to some of the museums we haven’t been to before. ❤️
