To ask a specific question about British Airways holidays payment dates?

I have a specify scenario, and I am hoping you wise people can help me 🤷‍♀️🤔

the deadline for payment for a holiday is the day before my payday. For example, deadline is 2nd feb, payday is 3rd feb

I get paid at around 00.20am. I will have the money to clear the balance literally 20mins into the day after the payment deadline.

i callled BA today to ask them for a payment extension and they said they don’t do them! I had thought they did, but the guy said they don’t and that the balance had to be cleared on the 2nd. He said that he isn’t sure whether the holiday will be cancelled by 00.20 the next day but I could try and see.

has anyone paid for their BA package holiday slightly after the deadline?

yabu - you won’t get to go on this holiday, find something else to do with your summer, and read the t’s and c’s next time!

yanbu - here’s a supportive hug for your error and stressful day, I think you’ll be okay and will get to go!

tia x

I can't help with your specific question but can you get a credit card to put the payment on and then pay it off as soon as you get paid?

BinseyPoplars · 19/01/2026 21:26

Could you take out a credit card? There is time between now and 2nd Feb to apply and have the card set up ready to pay with it; you could then pay the holiday amount off the card when you are paid. MSE has all the good deals etc

Supportive hugs, but a friend got caught out with this, with BA last year, assuming she’d get a reminder to pay just after the deadline (when she would have been paid!) and lost her deposit because they didn’t budge/offer an extension. Can you get a CC or use an overdraft for it, if it’s only a day?

Gothamcity · 19/01/2026 21:31

I'd get a credit card, pay it in there and then pay the card straight off when paid. It's better to pay for holidays in a credit card anyway as you have more protection

BlueMum16 · 19/01/2026 21:31

You've asked BA. They've told you it won't work.

Don't risk your holiday.

curious79 · 19/01/2026 21:31

You won’t get any extension. And remember you’re dealing with a computer ultimately, and not a person. Do what you can to borrow the money if you really want this holiday.

kiwiane · 19/01/2026 21:39

Can you get a credit card? Or a small personal loan or advance on your wages? Or ask someone to lend it to you overnight.
BA were pretty good with the smaller deposit and the final payment date is very clear; they’ll cancel if you don’t pay as seat prices tend to go up over time.

No option to get a credit card or borrow money 😪😪😪😪

Thank you 🥺 - I honestly thought I’d be able to extend it! It’s on me for not checking sooner tbh

no option for borrowing anything, I literally can only pay it on the next day. I think I will go on expecting it to be cancelled (and losing my deposit) but will have to wait and see 🤷‍♀️

Can you switch your bank to Monzo? They advertise that they credit the wage at 4pm the day before. Santander credit around 10-11pm.

chillinwithmygnomies · 19/01/2026 21:47

Monzo and Revolut will get you paid a day earlier if you can open an account with either.

Shitty situation hope you can get something sorted.
