And do you have a relationship with them

OP posts:
Tdcp · 17/01/2026 15:43

2 younger half brothers. Very close to the youngest when growing up, no contact for 6 years with both.

WaxMeltsMelting · 17/01/2026 15:45

I’ve got at least two that I’m not supposed to know about but have never met 🤷‍♀️

RitaIncognita · 17/01/2026 15:45

I have two younger half-siblings. I'm close to both of them.

HisNotHes · 17/01/2026 15:47

There are plenty of full siblings who aren’t that close so if you get lots of “not close”
answers, it’s not necessarily due to only sharing one parent.

Solost92 · 17/01/2026 15:50

All my siblings are half siblings. No relationship with the ones I grew up living with. Don't get along at all.
Little contsct with the one I grew up with regular visits with. I love him, we just aren't that close anymore, both too busy with our own lives and little in common.
Alot of contact with the one I barely saw as a kid. We're very similar people who had very similar upbringing and were very close.

ScullyLyf · 17/01/2026 15:59

2 half siblings and 3 full siblings. All close and get along - treat each other all exactly the same.

JHound · 17/01/2026 16:05

Yes and yes (most of them.)

Much closer to my full siblings though (as we were the ones raised in the same home.)

Badwowwow · 17/01/2026 16:07

I have half siblings but they are all on my mums side, I had a relationship with them as we obviously grew up together but I don’t speak to any of my siblings now. None on my father’s side.

Elishiva · 17/01/2026 16:11

One full brother and 3 half siblings.
We all grew up in the same house so I don’t think of them of half and am close to all except my full brother.
2 of my siblings have 2 other half siblings they are not close to, friendly but hardly see them.

blankcanvas3 · 17/01/2026 16:12

My brother was my half brother, never called him that though. We were very close and I never considered him ‘half’

NeverDropYourMooncup · 17/01/2026 16:12

Yes. On both sides.

No. Not at all. Their choice (well, mother's choice in deliberately creating a divide and conquer dynamic between hers by different men/refusing all contact with the father and therefore his subsequent children).

Fun to not belong with anybody because you were the shiny new toy that had to be possessed at all costs until the novelty wore off.

MistyWater · 17/01/2026 16:12

A half-brother and a half-sister. I am NC with both of them, my brother I didn’t really grow up with and had never really had a relationship with. I used to be very close to my sister and never considered her “half”. Going NC was nothing to do with who our parents are and more to do with her being a dick!

constantsparrow · 17/01/2026 16:13

3 much older, and one full sib. Closer to full sib, but very fond of others although they live overseas

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 17/01/2026 16:13

Yes, no.

Whosthetabbynow · 17/01/2026 16:14

My sons are half brothers. Love each other

TheSoapyFrog · 17/01/2026 16:14

I have a half brother on my mum's side. We have a relationship insofar as we see each other on special occasions organised by our mum. He has no relationship with his bio dad and has been adopted by our stepdad.

I have a half brother and sister from my dad's second marriage. We used to see each other at family occasions, but haven't had any contact (at their request) for about 11 years.

I have another half brother and sister from my dad's current marriage. We don't have much of a relationship, and haven't seen each other in a few years. They are about the same age as my sons.

I probably have a few more half siblings out there due to my dad's prolific oat sowing as well.

InMySpareTime · 17/01/2026 16:18

I have a half sister 10 years older than me. I’ve met her twice, last time I saw her was 25 years ago.

JHound · 17/01/2026 16:22

I should say all the half siblings are on my dad’s side and I think there are about 14 of us total but not sure.

DoNotIron · 17/01/2026 16:22

Yes, but I only found out about them when I was in my late thirties. Bit of a shock. I have met my half sister, but not my half brother because I haven’t managed to trace him. They aren’t full siblings to each other. My half sister (who had been adopted) then found out she had a whole load of half siblings from her other parent and seems to have bonded really well with them. She and I get on ok but there’s no real connection there for various complex reasons (isn’t it often the way with families?!) I do care about her, but she’s not in my life right now.

GingerPubes · 17/01/2026 16:22

I had two brothers, one now passed away some 22 years ago. I haven't seen my surviving brother for five years. We're not close; however we occasionally Whatsapp.

OldGothsFadeToGrey · 17/01/2026 16:22

5 and no. None whatsoever.

Gahr · 17/01/2026 16:23

I don't know. Sometimes I think my father had one or two other children at some point, but I don't care enough to really find out. If they tried to get in touch I would reject a relationship as I would have no interest.

CarrierbagsAndPJs · 17/01/2026 16:25

2 older and yes. One more than the other. More this year than ever before due to our joint parent now being elderly, alone and dependent. But we gree up in one household. Most people probably wouldn’t have realised it was a half situation.

Johaanah · 17/01/2026 16:26

I have four, two from my mother and two from my father, two live overseas and I haven’t seen them for years, I only have contact with one of the others and hear from them a few times each year.

Purplecatshopaholic · 17/01/2026 16:26

My partner has numerous half siblings on both sides, it’s into double figures. No relationship with any of them.
