Do people on Ozempic not get light headed?

I’ve lost 30 pounds this year through making small changes - no alcohol, walking for shorter journeys etc.

Dh’s family is known for being well built. Three aunts turned up looking absolutely minuscule at Christmas. I’ve thought “fuck it”. I’m sick of the slow weight loss I’m getting. I’m sticking to a 900 calorie diet which these family members agreed was about average for them. Surely if I replicate what they are doing I’ll get similar results (I’d rather spend my money on a post kids boob job and possibly a tummy tuck).

I have another 15 pounds to lose and just want to get it over and done with now.

But my God do I feel awful eating such few calories. Do people on the jabs not feel light headed constantly?

900 calories is starvation level shit.

You’re unlikely to stick to it or lose weight. You’ll just make yourself weak and ill.

They're bullshitting you (or themselves) if the reckon they are only eating 900 calories.

If you want to get really lean and fit, the best way is to lift weights and run, at least 6 days a week, while eating around 1500-2000 cals with lots of protein and not much sugar or refined carbs.

Summerbay23 · 12/01/2026 22:18

I haven’t felt light headed no, but I’m probably eating more than you on average. Today has been about 1200 calories but I sometimes have more. I have had a 40 minute swim and walked 13000 steps though.

Well done on your weight loss, that’s awesome work.

fancytoes · 12/01/2026 22:19

No! I get light-headed, hangry and shaky if I’ve not eaten but on Mounjaro I genuinely forget to eat until 2pm after a morning coffee!

Terrified of stopping!

Well-bloody-done, you should be proud. Get thee to Mounjaro to make life easy and if/when you stop, allow yourself half a stone fluctuation and keep yourself on track.

The WLI boards are really helpful.

Flowers999 · 12/01/2026 22:19

I get light headed I'm on MJ about 1400 cals a day and been like this for a year. Isually water helps as sometimes its dehydration.

Pertweet · 12/01/2026 22:23

I wouldn’t be surprised if they eat as low as 900 calories. Two aunts had a few bites of Christmas lunch and we’re done for the day. Very little food from what I observed. It was shocking. My nephew said my aunts fridge is always bare these days!

Yes I experience similar symptoms when I first started dieting. Luckily it did somewhat improve but these lower calories have me feeling awful a few hours after eating

30lb is incredible. Keep going but up the cals to 1200-1500 as its more sustainable when you reach your goal weight. I did 800 fot 3 months piled a load back on but maintain at average 12-1500 per day and a bit more for weekend treats.

EdinaTheConfessor · 12/01/2026 22:26

Yeah when I was on mounjaro I would often feel dizzy when I got up in the morning or from being sat down for a while.
I really wasn’t eating enough and lost a lot of weight very quickly.
Which isn’t ideal as it’s really bloody hard work to keep it off now I’m off the jabs

BelleEpoque27 · 12/01/2026 22:27

Well I eat more than 900 calories, so no. But on a few days when I've forgotten to eat (literally never done this in my life before) yes I have felt wobbly by mid-afternoon.

Oooonoooo · 12/01/2026 22:28

Eat protein and you will be fine regardless of how you approach your diet!

ComtesseDeSpair · 12/01/2026 22:28

In the long run, 900 calories a day is unlikely to be sustainable. You’ll be hungry, more likely to break and overeat, slower but steady weight loss based on a lifestyle diet you can maintain after is what you need to focus on. But if you’re determined to do it for a short period, make sure you’re drinking enough water. You need the water to support lypolisis so that your body can use ketones most efficiently as energy. It also takes your body a few days to get used to relying more on ketogenesis than fast-action glucose as an energy source, the lightheadedness should pass after that. I do 7-day water fasts (nothing but water) occasionally and have run some of my 10km PBs towards the end of them, but the first three days can be rough.

Gemstonebeach · 12/01/2026 22:33

I’m on weight loss jabs and I feel unwell if I haven’t eaten! I’m on 1600 calories and losing 400gm to 800gm a week, wegovy makes me feel full faster so I can stick to those calories but it doesn’t make me want to stop eating.

HarvestMouseandGoldenCups · 12/01/2026 22:33

On Mounjaro I do get lightheaded when I stand up sometimes. But I eat more than 900 calories so not that often. My sister could barely eat and she eventually stopped because she was so woozy.

Ponderingwindow · 12/01/2026 22:34

I am definitely eating more than 900 calories. I don’t track calories, just watch intake in general. Losing about 1 pound a week and I’m at 55 total so far. I get dizzy multiple times a day. I have learned to get up slowly and take breaks if needed.

there are 2 differences between Wegovy or no Wegovy with the same calorie reduction. 1) I don’t have a constant gnawing hunger that makes me feel sick to my stomach. 2) I don’t have constant migraines.

HorrorFan81 · 12/01/2026 22:36

I did Fast 800 Keto for 12 weeks and didn't feel too bad. Focused mainly on protein and had some electrolytes which helped

Hotpants123 · 12/01/2026 22:36

On Monjaro this is what i have eaten today

Good size bowl of porridge with banana and honey

Chicken and spinach salad with spoonfuls of cottage cheese and coleslaw, Grapes and strawberries

Home made spiced parsnip and carrot soup with lentils. High protein bagel thin

Orange Juiice ice lolly 69 calories. A bit of a treat I don't have this every day.

It takes the edge of my appetite, I rarely have breakfast and normally have a 3 egg omelette for lunch.

I do weights most mornings. I never feel light headed. But I think.i eat well
Even if I am not hungry I will eat something.

Key is to be eating properly and wholesome. My weight loss is slow and I had a break at Christmas.
I did 2 stone on my own following 800Fast and 2 stone on MJ
Love MJ for the anti inflammatory benifits, never want to come off it.
No side effects at all.

I'm thinking about doing this

Is it okay then? How long did you do it for?

I was originally just goingfor 5:2
Accidentally bought the wrong book!

Started reading it and thought this is interesting, especially for all the other benefits. I was thinking of maybe starting at the beginning of Lent.

LaurieFairyCake · 12/01/2026 23:48

I’ve eaten 800 calories on MJ for 18 months. I don’t get lightheaded and that’s what I can eat for maintenance. I’m not losing weight now and haven’t for 8 months.

It slows down gut transition so I feel full longer. Plus helps with having less appetite.

I am short and small though, if you’re taller you need more calories.

Obviously that’s why I was overweight as there’s no way I could maintain on 800 calories without MJ.

Huckleberries · 13/01/2026 00:17

@LaurieFairyCake 800 for maintenance, im nervous to try it for a couple of weeks!

PinkArt · 13/01/2026 00:20

No, Mounjaro has stopped me getting light headed as my blood sugars are more stable. I used to get dizzy, cold sweats, feel faint etc if I went too long without eating. Now my blood sugars don't tank like they used to before tea time.
I'm usually eating more than 900 cals a day but might drop that low the day after jabbing when I have no appetite. Still no light headedness.

rainandshine38 · 13/01/2026 01:54

If you dehydrate you will get light headed so that should be avoided and also how are they managing a balanced diet? That might not be providing enough protein carbs and fat.

LovesLabradors · 13/01/2026 03:33

I'm on MJ and could easily eat less than 900 calories most days - but I do try to eat more, and I can plan healthy meals, because all the cravings have gone. I don't think about food that much now.
I do sometimes get lightheaded and have dizzy spells, but they're not unpleasant, more like "woooo!" and a completely different feeling from the million other diets I've tried, eg VLCD, where I felt so starving I'd feel ill, then eventually crack and binge.
I've accepted I may be on a maintenance dose for life tbh.
