Aibu or is my husband

I snapped at my husband today, it was the last straw for me. He zoned out when watching stuff on YouTube, to, etc and I’m left talking to my self - him ignoring me (even though he doesn’t think he is)

I was talking to him he wasn’t watching tv and he done it again, I spoke and there was nothing back, so I snapped ‘I might as well talk to myself, you just completely ignore me’ he got defensive and said ‘you know I zone out, it’s not my fault, it’s the way my brain works’

we ended up having a disagreement over it. He things I’m being unreasonable Am I?

You’re definitely not being unreasonable, it is annoying, frustrating and hurtful. But I’m like this a lot too, and truly can’t help it. If I’m mid-flow doing something, all else can completely vanish. My brain will simply zero in on the task (eg messaging someone on my phone, writing an email), and I could have someone start trying to talk to me and my brain will simply not register them even standing there or what they’re saying - at least until they’ve said my name a few times or get audibly annoyed! It is usually a loved one who is sadly on the receiving end. Not because I don’t care, but my brain is wired that way. DH actually says that it’s like my whole family are in our own worlds sometimes! The best thing is to let him know first that you want to talk to him, and wait til he’s put his phone down/is looking at you and most importantly don’t take it personally!

I’m more like your H in this scenario. He rabbits away; half the time I don’t know whether he’s talking to me or his phone. If I responded every time, where’s my chilling-out evening gone?
