To downsize from a two bed to a one bed?

We currently rent a two bedroom flat for a lot of money a month. We use the second room as an office but have space in the living room for a desk.

When we were in a one bed, people would always say they’d love to come and stay with us or visit us overnight. So far in 7 months we’ve had two people stay for a night each. The only other interest we’ve had in people staying is a cousin “joking” their son could move in for a few months because rent is too expensive for where he wants to live in Clapham.

If we got a one bed with space for a sofabed in an area that could be closed off, we could save £6000 a year.

AIBU to just downsize to a one bed when the lease is up?

It seems a sensible thing to do. That £6k pa would add up nicely if you are saving for a deposit.

Or pay for a fabulous holiday.🤗

In a flat I’d prioritise great storage over a second bedroom.
