Cold and baby

I went to a show tonight and saw a small baby leave with mum, in mums arms. I saw them walk past our aisle and baby wasn't wrapped up, no hat. They got out outside and didn't put on a hat or a snow suit.

They were still outside 15 mins after. No public parking outside

Aibu in thinking the baby should have a hat at the very least. I reckon was 2/3 months old

I’m sure the baby has survived the brief amount of time it was in the cold weather, with or without a hat.

Without a coat as well?

I’m usually in the don’t judge parents camp, but I can’t help and raise my brows at parents who are wrapped up in 13 layers, letting kids out in just a dress or just a T-shirt in crazy weathers. If an adult is cold, then a person a quarter of their size must be.

That being said, I’ve never been able to keep a hat on a baby. The no jacket is questionable, but you will have situations where (you can’t put a child in a car seat with a jacket on) you wrap them in your own jacket to run in to a shop and then put them back in your warm car.

Today I did see a mum with baby barely dressed, no socks in a queue to buy medicine for the child - so guessing it was sick. That made me wonder why on earth you’d leave the kid in -3 with no appropriate clothing when they’re unwell.

Was the baby in a baby carrier? If so you have to be careful not to overheat them.

I’m usually really relaxed about temperature and clothing, as mine pulls off his hat and gloves , but this week I’ve been strict as it’s so cold!! I saw about a nine month without hat or gloves, and legs showing between leggings and socks being pushed on the swings at the park, she looked so cold !! Mine was next to her in the swing and had mittens, hat, coat etc on, I looked at the parents and they were also without gloves and just had short jackets on so maybe they didn’t feel the cold, but they were carrying hot coffees!

If a baby is in body contact then v different to being in a buggy
