Ive only just had a shower. I need to take down all the christmas decorations. I should go out for a walk. I just cant be arsed to do anything and want to go back to bed and watch the series I'm loving currently.

Do it. Go back to bed. Sounds like you need the rest. The decs can wait

CynicalSunni · 03/01/2026 10:27

Your body is telling you to rest so rest.

Decor can wait another day

Speaking as someone with three young kids who are currently only still because they're defrosting from us all playing in the snow...
GO TAKE THE NAP, SIT IN BED, WATCH THE SHOW, DO NOTHING AT ALL.
Do it for me 😂

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 03/01/2026 10:34

What’s the series?

Squirrel60 · 03/01/2026 10:34

Go back to bed and watch your series! Have a well-earned rest!

Last night I got the washing machine going and was supposed to get it on the indoor lines this morning, when I got up at 6, but it's so piggin' boring I couldn't be arsed, so I guzzled a can of Thatchers Apple and Blackcurrant, made up another 2 hot water bottles and buggered back off to bed with Percy, my RoboCat!

JoyeuxNarwhal · 03/01/2026 10:35

Who says you 'need' to deal with decorations or 'should' be going for a walk?!
I'm still in bed. Dh brought me bacon sarnies and coffee. I'm different from you though op as I feel absolutely no reason to be up and doing!

ForLoveNotMoney · 03/01/2026 10:35

Get back in bed! I am still in bed, just finished my audiobook. Was going to get up and take on the day but instead I’m going to make tea, get back in bed and start another book. I don’t often get time to myself so going to make the most of it!

Do it for me too 😅. We have no snow so my 3 children are bored by everything!!

Yourlifeinyourhands · 03/01/2026 10:36

Unless you have kids that demand your attention just do it! We have a son but we’ve both been poorly all night with this horrific virus! My DH got up at 8 with him and I have just got up to switch as DH has a migraine! My DS has had a lot of screen today!

Gloriia · 03/01/2026 10:38

Going against the grain here but I'd get rid of the decs tidy up then watch telly. Having it hanging over you spoils the relaxation ime.

englishrosi3 · 03/01/2026 11:00

I was so exhausted after all the extra hours I done at work on the runnuo to Christmas, I stayed at home and rested for 3 days solid after Christmas. I felt like a different person by the end of it. I think I’m suffering from burnout as I’ve been tearful, so so tired and no energy. I wish I’d rested when I should have.

Blackcat54 · 03/01/2026 14:46

Thanks everyone. Managed to force myself to do the decorations. Now have lots of hoovering to do but might have a nap instead 🤣🤣

OP posts:
Gennymar · 03/01/2026 14:54

YANBU but well done for doing it! It's actually quite tiring! Took me a good couple of hours with all the bloody hoovering afterwards as well.

Older teens all sooo keen for the tree etc to go up. No sign of them when it comes to taking it down and putting it all away 🙄

Netcurtainnelly · 03/01/2026 15:05

Its cold. Beds the best place.

CNDflag · 03/01/2026 15:10

Ugh I don’t want to do anything today either, but we did manage to take the tree and decs down and Hoover a bit. Boxes everywhere now and OH has decided he’s done enough for today so won’t get it finished until tomorrow now.
i always feel guilty for not ‘doing’..

BrieAndChilli · 03/01/2026 15:26

I couldnt be bothered either - we had guests for new year for a second ‘christmas’ and they went home last night . DH and DS1 went out for a hike in the hills, DD was working and DS2 was in bed until 2pm.
I did make myself put away the decs, wrestle the tree outside, sweep up the explosion of pine needles, sort out the mountain of recycling, put the trestle table and benches away on the garage and put the conservatory back to normal. Done a couple of loads of washing too.
now sittng with a cup of tea and chocolate and deciding what to watch. Feel better for getting the house sorted and can veg out guilt free.

Gentlydoesit2 · 04/01/2026 09:09

Dump the "should" and go back to bed

Summerlovin24 · 04/01/2026 09:10

Ignore the posts about doing the decs etc then relaxing. Your body and brain are telling you to relax. Took me years to listen to those signals. Do nothing. So what if decs are up to Monday. Resting is not idle, your body and mind are recuperating

Fulmine · 04/01/2026 09:24

Have a duvet day, why not. The decorations shouldn't be coming down till 6th January anyway.

Letty186 · 04/01/2026 09:44

I read this and thought I’d written and posted what I was thinking 🤣. I got up early, made the husband a cup of tea as he was off early on a training course, made my sons breakfast, defrosted the car, took him to where he needs to be, changed all the towels, put the washing on and now I’m tucked up under a blanket in bed about to watch the last three episodes of a series I’m addicted to - Younger

what are you watching as I’m going to need another ….. x

mamasdone · 04/01/2026 10:38

Doing my decs Monday after work. Leave the chores & chill!
