Isn't it boring all the people putting merry xmas and then tonight Happy New Year Posts on FB etc.

Do you have time to answer them all and can you be bothered?

Same old Same old zzzzzz.

I would like to wish all my friends and family a merry Christmas.

I would like to wish all my friends and family a happy New Year.

Nobody even says anything remotely interesting or unique or funny.

OP posts:
WarmGreyHare · 31/12/2025 18:59

They haven't messaged you personally, you aren't obliged to answer if it's too dull for you.

GreenPoms · 31/12/2025 18:59

Who says you have to post?

outerspacepotato · 31/12/2025 19:00

No one is forcing you to be on Facebook.

PollyPlumPeach · 31/12/2025 19:00

You don't have to post, or even look on Facebook

GanninHyem · 31/12/2025 19:01

If you're that addicted to social media you need to bitch about one on another, I think you need a break.

Coffeeishot · 31/12/2025 19:02

I mean you are free to scroll by or give a passive aggressive 👍 if it is annoying you so.much.

Egglio · 31/12/2025 19:03

You could make a new year resolution to ditch Facebook?

PattyBladelll · 31/12/2025 19:03

About as boring as people making repetitive threads like this on Mumsnet

LightYearsAgo · 31/12/2025 19:06

Are you labouring under the mistaken impression that one has to respond to every post one sees?

What a strange question

Whether you do or not its boring seeing it.

Can't anyone think of even a unique or interesting way to see it.

OP posts:
NemesisInferior · 31/12/2025 19:47

I wouldn't worry, with this sort of attitude you won't have many friends anyway.

You don't have to look.

Blarn · 31/12/2025 19:50

Who still uses Facebook?

Someone wishing you happy new year is dull ?

GreyCarpet · 31/12/2025 19:52

Um... don't then? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Chinsupmeloves · 31/12/2025 19:55

Of course these mesages are going to appear 🙄 It's what people do to reach a larger circle of family and friends and closer are presumably personally contacted.

I don't post but if anyone else wants to, fine. Xx

Butchyrestingface · 31/12/2025 20:01

I've never done it and be won't be starting now. But I do wonder why OP:

  • portrays the posting of a few words as such a chore?
  • thinks it needs to be a unique or interesting message? It's not about that.
Miranda65 · 31/12/2025 20:07

You don't have to do it, OP.
I'm not even on Facebook, and I just ignore all the duplicated messages in WhatsApp group chats. It's performative nonsense.

Maybe make 2026 the year you decide to stop blindly following everyone else?

Tinkerbellthefairy · 31/12/2025 20:08

You don’t even have to have Facebook. I don’t.

cardibach · 31/12/2025 20:10

Blarn · 31/12/2025 19:50

Who still uses Facebook?

It has 2.1 billion daily active users. 3 billion monthly. Just because you don’t doesn’t mean nobody does.

It’s not performative nonsense. It’s people hoping that the people they know have a good 2026. It’s not complicated.

I decided to dispense with that finally. Too much time is spent liking individual birthday posts, to ensure no one gets offended by my lack of response.

I rarely get a like or a comment on my posts anyway, I can write something I think is engaging and get radio silence while someone else posts a nonsense comment copied from Live laugh love and get 1000 likes. I hate that

cardibach · 31/12/2025 20:13

@girlfriend44 you don’t have to post, you don’t have to respond, you don’t even have to open it up (or have an account come to that). Just don’t look until Friday and it will all be over.

I’m not on there for likes. It’s a kind of online diary and a way of sharing stuff with friends and family. It’s rare that none of them are interested enough to respond in some way though.

I’m absolutely on there for likes which is why I gave up. I much prefer MN style validation
