Having to pay for a damaged Vinted return. AIBU?

Not happy! I treated myself on Vinted to a pair of ‘very good condition’ Sweaty Betty leggings. I hadn’t even fully tried them on - they were halfway up my legs! - when I noticed holes in the legs.
I reported the issue and the seller has requested a return … at my expense! Surely this can’t be right, when the item wasn’t as described. It seems very unfair.
I have sent a polite message to the seller asking if she’ll reconsider, but I guess it’s unlikely when she hasn’t even apologised for her mistake.
AIBU?

This happened to me recently as well - they get the choice to get you to pay or offer to pay themselves which is infuriating. From the other side of things I also had to accept a return as I'd stupidly not described accurately enough (said a jacket was waterproof when it was water resist) and it wouldn't have crossed my mind to not pay for the return. I just accepted it as one of the hazards of Vinted when it happened to me either way as I've had a lot of other fantastic bargains!

I had a bad experience, bought a blouse described as silk that turned out to be polyester. I returned it for credit at my expense, expecting a full refund but the seller claimed it was lost although I had proof of delivery. I was sceptical. The process was almost impossible and it took months for Vinted to refund me. And her, I think, the CF. Then I recently bought a pair of trousers that turned out to have been wrongly described, and found it so impossible to deal with I’ll probably just send them to the charity shop. I’ve learned hard lessons, it’s really put me off Vinted. Especially since the recent stupid sizing debacle

Thanks to both of you. She is taking no responsibility and I’m still raging 😅 It’s the principle of the whole thing!

Had a similar thing happen - bought a Harry Potter cloak for DD for Halloween; advertised as 11-12yrs; when it arrived it was a size 7-8yrs! Messaged the seller & Vinted & they said I could return it my cost & then I’d be refunded but not the return - so I’d be out of pocket & no cloak whilst the seller would have paid nothing & got the cloak back! I ended up selling it locally on FB & got back what I paid.
