Every year I just have a quiet evening, watching TV with my husband. My son is 16 and he’ll be with us. Last year I promised myself to do something special, my husband doesn’t really understand why I want to do something special on New Year’s Eve but it means something to me. But I don’t know what to do- I can’t think of a way to make it special? I guess iabu? I just can’t think of a way to make it special

New Year’s Eve walk, pub tea and back for a board games, staying up to watch the London fireworks on TV (and outside to see any local ones).

My family of 4, including two teens, always have a family evening. We get something nice for dinner (tomorrow it's steaks), then we set goals and make predictions for the next year. Predictions can be literally anything - something about their favourite tv show, what friends and family will be doing, politics etc. We also get out our previous year goals and predictions to see how well we did. We then play board games and watch some of our favourite family tv programmes e.g. Friday night dinner, outnumbered, gavin & stacey. We watch the fireworks, then we go to bed usually.....this year we are staying up to watch stranger things too!

They’re lovely. I guess we could do something like that. I like the idea of reflecting on the year gone by and looking forward to the coming year

Why not Google what's happening in your area? You might find some good ideas that way. I do that all the time.
I'm thinking sledding here in the afternoon with the dc; home for comfy clothes; comfort food; movies/NYE countdown from NY; catch some fireworks on tv from around the world.
