I know my parents-in-law love to spoil my kids at Christmas. They’ve always been massive on Christmas (think social media posts where you can’t see the tree because there’s so many presents). We don’t see them that often so I know this is their way of showing love and I don’t want to be a grinch or spoil their fun, but there’s just so much stuff. It’s stressing me out and I feel like the presents I got them, which I put a lot of thought into, got lost among the chaos.

i don’t have room for them or the energy to clean up that many toys each evening (they already have a lot of toys).

I know it’s such a ridiculous thing to complain about, but I’m wondering if anyone else is in this position.

Should I just leave it or should I say something?

I get it. Loads of plastic tat you and the kids don’t need. Can you ask for one big thing? And stocking fillers. But no more. That’s what we do for far away grandparents.

Yes

Don't say something now. Say something next August or September instead. You could redirect them towards season tickets for a local zoo/farm or whatever maybe?

And in your own home, rotate toys.

Yanbu
I am unapologetic about this

I let the kids keep some.
The rest gets whisked away and regifted, sold on vinted or donated.

I live in a 200 sq m house (which i think is big happy for mumsnet to tell.me i live in a shoe box) and dont get how you rotate ludicrous bulky items like...giant dolls houses, 4ft football net, 5 ft race track, 5ft train tracks, pickler frames, bulky baby doll accessories (car carrier, high chair, pram, cot) ride on cars x 2, tricycle x 2
This is just a section of what's been inflicted and my oldest hasn't turned 4.
Lord help people in 3 bed semis...
