Why are some men such d*cks

The title really.

I don’t get out much for a drink, I prefer to do other things than to wake up the next day feeling shit, which I feel now (banging headache)

Tonight me and girlfriend went out for a nice meal then the pub to watch the football, just so not drip feeding we are same sex couple.

Outside with 4/5 others talking at smoking area, waiting in lift it came into conversation about me being with my girlfriend which everyone else couldn’t believe it but didn’t say anything bad, but one small youngish man made a sexual comment and it really pissed me off cause he put a dampener on a good night (I overthink).

It was homophobic and just disrespectful, I can’t remember what I said but my girlfriend was pulling me away we were getting our lift, I think I was going to say something in response.

it did annoy me because he said it cause he had an audience but why do men think it’s acceptable to make “jokes like this”

also he was the type of man that would make jokes about women in general cause he came across as misogynistic and just a real dick

I’m sorry this happened to you and ruined your evening! What an absolute dickhead that man is.

There was a similar thread the other day about abusive comments made in public from men, to women just going about their lives. It happens all the time and it’s misogyny. They do it because they are bigger and stronger than us and so they don’t fear a reprisal. They do it because it makes them feel better about their own pathetic lives. Anyone who feels the need to do this is deeply unhappy, it’s all about them and nothing at all to do with you.

Don't give that prick a moment more of your headspace.

Alcohol brings out the worst in wankers

Localfriend · 21/12/2025 06:26

but my girlfriend was pulling me away

you wanted to fight him?

Justchilling07 · 21/12/2025 06:34

@Localfriend No! Think op’s saying, they were going to say something (at the end of the day why should someone think it’s ok to make sexual comments!) saying something, to address an offensive comment, is not the same as “wanting to fight someone”.

It was a question. To the OP

Justchilling07 · 21/12/2025 06:47

@Localfriend Then maybe if you asked op directly?instead of making a leading statement🤷‍♀️

Asking a question on a thread started by the op that the op would only know the answer to - fairly evident that direct to the op and not someone who doesn’t know the OP from Adam.

Stop being an arse, the OP was even quoted

dinesaurrawr · 21/12/2025 07:00

@Localfriendyou’re being purposely dickish

The op wasn’t directly asked, it was a loaded question from Localfriend.
There’s really no need for your, "stop being an arse comment” Hmm interesting, just because l’ve not agreed with your comments😬

That is your interpretation. Given you’re not the OP, your interpretation of my question to the OP is of no relevance to me

Jollyhockeystickss · 21/12/2025 16:25

Because unfortunately his man hood is very small and he has zero self confidence and he believes he has to act a certain way..just ignore him im sure his mates think hes a moran, i expect he has difficulty keeping a relationship for some reason!

Oh dear, this thread is open to everyone, if you post something ridiculous, purposely argumentative, which you did, then there are going to be opinions @Localfriend more like local enemy😬

Wish I was gay. Men are dicks. Be thankful you’re not attracted to them ❤️

bleakmidwintering · 21/12/2025 22:45

Now women are behaving like dicks in this thread. Oh the irony!

Justchilling07 · 21/12/2025 22:59

@bleakmidwintering well as this is an anonymous forum, how could you possibly know, what comments are from men or women. It’s quite ironic though, that you’re quick to blame women.

OP, simply because some of them are and very few people challenge them.

IME (straight but with close and long standing friendships with a few gay women), and from what I've observed, it tends to boil down to this.

A lot of men think that women's sole purpose and interest in life is being attractive to men. Lesbians confuse them because they sort of know that they don't care about being attractive to men but they don't really understand and some men don't know how to relate to women other than on a sexual level. They literally don't know how to communicate with women on a human level.

This makes some of them very uncomfortable so rather than say nothing, they come put with this sort of bollocks because it makes them feel 'manly' and 'hides' their discomfort.

In case it throws some light on the subject, I (embarrasingly) briefly dated a man like this (I obviously didn't know at the time!) Who couldn't relate to women on a human level. We went out with one of my friends and it was excruciating! He was obviously really uncomfortable in the presence of A Lesbian! And didn't know how to relate to her at all.

Firstly, he tried being 'blokey' with her and engaging with chat about women the way men do; then he tried treating her 'like a woman' (trying to be a bit flirty but then referencing the fact she was a lesbian so it was pointless), then he talked extensively about the time he was hit on by a man and then he accused me of flirting with her. He steered pretty much every conversation around to the fact she was gay.

I don't think he'd ever met a real life lesbian before and he literally couldn't see her as a person beyond it.

Anyway, I dumped him because he was a dick. But his discomfort was was weirdly fascinating to watch.

Is that all you’ve got from this thread! Op actually said her gf was pulling her away, that’s really not the same as holding op back. What l got from op’s post, her GF, was basically, saying let’s just get in the car and go Which is perfectly reasonable, wouldn’t you want to get away from someone/group being homophobic? It sounds like op, was just going to say something, not what you’re insinuating!🙄

jeaux90 · 24/12/2025 08:09

God OP I can imagine what he said. Just be thankful he is not in your dating pool! I would have said something though, can’t abide homophobia.
