what the actual fuck. Quote below from the Procurator Fiscal.

This guy is a seriously psychopathic repeat offender and he’ll be out walking the streets in a few years time. Then he’ll kill some poor woman and there’ll be an inquest into how it happened.

TW - this is a difficult read. AIBU in saying we need men like this locking up for life a very very long time.

“Sohail Ahmed poses a significant danger to women, and his predatory behaviour has inflicted lasting trauma on those affected.”

His sentence is indefinite, he has to serve a minimum of 9 years before he can even be considered for parole. The only way he’ll get out in 4.5 years is if he breaks out or dies www.copfs.gov.uk/about-copfs/news/man-who-abducted-and-raped-two-women-jailed-indefinitely/

Okay I will correct - 9 years before he can be considered for parole.

But given he will be in jail, and therefore not able to attack further women, how likely is it that he will be considered for release then? He’s hardly going to admit to still being a threat to women.

The parole board will assess him before release, don’t worry.

The parole board won’t just check if he’s attacked more women, ask him if he’s a still a threat then let him go if the answer to both is no.

He’s got a lifelong order, it’s the most severe type of sentence that can be given for a sexual offence. They’ll be looking for significant change before they release him and, if he ever gets out, he’ll be monitored for life and can be recalled at any time.

The fact they let him out on bail after he’d already abducted and raped one woman is a lot more concerning than his sentence.
