Longer than usual period 🙄

Hey!! So im having a longer period than usual. My periods only last 4 days max and on the 2nd day become very light. This one has lasted longer than a week. I wouldn't say its heavy but sometimes when I go to wipe after a the toilet there can be a lot of blood or sometimes something very little or sometimes none, so it's a weird one. Just wondering if anyone else had anything similar. I also have had cramping with this period which I never usually have.
Any feedback is welcome :) thank youuuu

Sometimes. It’s often just one of those things. Are you worried it’s something more sinister?

ETA: my periods did become heavier in perimenopause. Could it be that?

Any chance you have/have had covid recently? I had this a few weeks' ago and despite various NHS sources saying longer/weird periods don't happen with Covid, I found that anecdotally on the Internet, lots of women were claiming they had had them. I'd just been ill and decided that's what must have happened. It was such a sudden change that I dismissed it being perimenopause.

Periods are affected by many factors and very rarely one odd period is an indication of anything sinister.

Thanks everyone:)

Yes I was thinking pre menopausal because I have had a couple of other symptoms. I have only turner 37 though so not sure if that could be it.

I have been ill recently but didn't test for covid, never knew that could be related, but thanks for the heads up. Its great being a woman sometimes isn't it 😅🤣 Hopefully be one of those things that doesn't happen that often!

@AffableApple I’m so glad I came across this! I had Covid last month. My period was then 10 days late, which is unusual for me, and 8 days long! I did wonder if it was somehow connected to being ill.

Before perimenopause (that's a whole other story) I had one that lasted 2 weeks for no reason. GP gave me norethisterone. Soon sorted it. I used it with approval on and off when I used to race, to time them more conveniently. It's worth asking.
