Applying again within the same company group – good or bad idea?

I recently interviewed for a role and actually made it all the way to the final stage. It was a pretty specific job where I didn’t have all the exact experience they were looking for, and in the end, I didn’t get the offer.

I’ve just applied for a different job at their sister company. Both companies are under the same umbrella, in the same building, and definitely share some connections and people.

The good news is this new role is much more aligned with my actual experience and what I want to do, and I feel like I’m a strong candidate for it.

Do you think the fact that I didn’t get the previous job at their sister company would put them off? I’ve noticed some of the same people who interviewed me have been sharing this new job opening, so they’re definitely linked even though it’s a separate role and company name.

This job is much more me and I am sooo keen but I worry this might reduce my chances!

No way of knowing, really. I wouldn't have thought it would matter if the job is suitable for your skillset. But there is only way to find out. Wait and see.
