AIBU? Doubting GP? Tonsilitis

My daughter has a cough and a temperature so I took her to the GP yesterday. We also tested her for Flu A, B, Covid - she’s negative.

she listened to her chest and airways and she is completely clear, she checked my daughters throat and immediately went
‘Tonsillitis’ and prescribed her with antibiotics.

I asked if they was pussy, she said one side has a bit of puss and the other is read and swollen- she said I caught it early.

my daughter said her throat is fine though? Is this possible?

I’ve got health anxiety, so I instantly the think the worst of like cancers, etc when it comes to ‘unexplained’ fevers etc. I just feel like tonsillitis is such a jump without throat pain? Am I wrong and being unreasonable to question the GP?

she’s not lethargic, no runny nose, hungry but won’t eat much when we give her something ( unlike her )

I had tonsillitis as a child. I didn't get a sore throat. I used to have bad stomach pain, but the back of my throat was scarred from infections.

Oh really??!! I thought it causes sore throats always! That’s why I’ve been concerned

Nope my DD had terrible bout of tonsillitis, no sore throat at all, but she was vomiting & had awful tummy pain. I thought she had a sickness bug!

I've had tonsillitis several times (had them removed a few years ago thankfully) and not every time had sore throat. High temp, feeling severely run down and hungry but unable to eat much were all symptoms I had though.

I remember one GP being very impressed with my "absolute classic presentation of bacterial tonsillitis" who was the one that finally referred me for their removal.

Hope she feels better soon.
