Most patients would have their obs done every 1-2 hours in my experience. More often if they are very unwell.

Itsmetheflamingo · 15/12/2025 22:32

No everyone has their blood pressure taken at hospital

BriefEncountersOfTheThirdKind · 15/12/2025 22:38

Doesn't matter what you're in for, they take your blood pressure and temp regularly

XenoBitch · 15/12/2025 22:40

I was last in for mental health reasons, and my blood pressure was taken regularly.
It is normal for all patients to have obs.

FuzzyWolf · 15/12/2025 22:42

It’s normal for obs to be taken at frequent intervals.

I remember staying in with DS when he was a baby and crying when they would come in hourly because it would wake him up and I’d spend the next 50 mins settling him again.

It's an emergency department. People's health can deteriorate very quickly. OBS ( including BP) can indicate if that's happening, so that action can be taken.
