How many packages do you get delivered?

Just got a slightly judgey comment from the postman about the amount of deliveries we have been getting lately.

We have a 5 month old baby and we do get a lot of stuff online because I don't want to traipse around the shops with him. So we end up getting one or two packages delivered most days. Just bits from Amazon, Vinted, etc.

It's mostly baby stuff but I end up getting toiletries and some food bits on Amazon now as well because it's just so easy. I know it's a bit wasteful, high street is use it or lose it etc, but at the moment with the baby it's just so convenient.

Just wondered if this is normal? Or am I being really wasteful? Should we all be going out to the shops more??

During Christmas I've ordered 4 things to be delivered. Rest of year normally every few months. Why is your postman commenting about Amazon? He dosent deliver those .

SparkyBlue · 15/12/2025 14:33

Several a week. Our postman and DPD drivers are very regular callers to the house which reminds me to get cash from the atm for their Christmas gift

MrsTerryPratchett · 15/12/2025 14:35

Hardly any. I boycott Amazon and like shopping local.

But I have one, helpful and easy, teenager!

Quite often Amazon third party sellers use Royal Mail

Nincompoo · 15/12/2025 14:39

At this time of yeah multiple every day. Usually 2 or 3 a week bit it’s unusual for Royal Mail to be doing the deliveries, it’s usually Amazon or retailers that use on of the other delivery companies.

AlwaysADramaHadEnough · 15/12/2025 14:40

Most days. But that's for work and home. Usually amazon and a few others.

boredwfh · 15/12/2025 14:40

we get multiple packages a day. Mainly Amazon. Xmas time is crazy! Plus there are 4 adults in our house ordering though it’s mainly me!

CountryMouse22 · 15/12/2025 14:40

It's none of postie's business!

LoveSandbanks · 15/12/2025 14:41

I see a lot of my own clothes and often buy fabric online. There’s been two deliveries today!

ResusciAnnie · 15/12/2025 14:41

One or 2 a day usually. Not all through postman though - various couriers and Deliveroo too.

We Deliveroo something about 5x a week I’d say! A lot of top up shops and a takeaway or 2. DH will often Deliveroo himself some lunch.

When DD was a baby we got Kendamil on subscription.

We do Lovevery too so a lovely big box of toys every few months.

Always something we need from Amazon.

Getting a lot of Next deliveries lately too, I’m having a Next moment and why would I go to a shop and look for something when I can use the search function on the website.

Ditto Boots - just order it online.

Ditto World of Books.

RightOnTheEdge · 15/12/2025 14:46

I get most things online.

I do feel bad about it sometimes but I live in a town with a small market square and its all pubs, hairdressers/barbers and charity shops. Lots of cafes as well.

CandidRaven · 15/12/2025 14:46

We buy everything online because none of us drive and its a lot easier than getting the bus with 4 kids, one of which is a baby, I honestly can't be bothered with the hassle of it, plus there isn't much in the town I live in anyway so it would likely be a pointless outing, much easier to click a button in the comfort of my own home and wait for a knock at the door

AyrshireTryer · 15/12/2025 14:47

Crucify him. Oh sorry wrong dodgy Christian festival.

bridgetreilly · 15/12/2025 15:25

If we don’t order stuff, postmen become redundant. So I’d ask him if that’s what he’d prefer.

How lovely.

WonderingWanda · 16/12/2025 06:42

Loads to be honest. I work full time and if I go to the shops to buy something it's usually out of stock. We do have a lovely independent gift shop in our village which I will use on weekends if I need to buy a present but otherwise I avoid shopping if possible. That said I have been out twice for Christmas shopping because if you have no ideas then online browsing can be uninspiring whereas seeing a lovely festive shop display and being able to see / feel the quality of an item is really helpful.

Sesma · 16/12/2025 06:49

Most days something is delivered, I pay for Prime so obviously use it. I have Next unlimited so obviously use that.

DiscoBeat · 16/12/2025 07:31

Obviously lots at Christmas but I do get most things online as it saves so much time so thought the year we probably get an average of two parcels or so a day. Mostly Amazon drivers though rather than the postman.

Mistyglade · 15/12/2025 12:47

The postman can fuck off and do the job he’s paid to do. He’s literally moaning about doing his job.

He was probably just making conversation. I don’t know why people are so grumpy!

notcomfortable · 16/12/2025 07:35

In all honesty about four a day, my partner gets 2/3 a day
