Severe anxiety after opticians referral- please help

Hi everyone,

I had a routine eye test and the fundus photograph seemed to show a bit of optic nerve swelling in one eye. I then had an OCT scan which showed a tilted disc. I have myopia and astigmatism so the optometrist felt this was the reason the nerve looked slightly blurred/swollen but she would put an urgent referral in.

I phoned the hospital after 4 days and they said the consultant would review the images and triage. It has now been 16 days and I have received this text message. Would you say this seems like they are concerned? Or does it look more like I've been triaged as routine.

"*** University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has received & accepted your Ophthalmology Service referral.

Our patient booking team will process your referral and you will be sent an appointment when one becomes available.

To manage your referral, or to view estimated waiting times you can download the NHS App at www.nhs.uk/nhs-app"

I am worried sick as I am suffering from severe anxiety at the moment and recently started anti-depressants so it is all feeling a bit much. Please any input would be so appreciated xxxx

Don’t worry at ALL

all very standard op

and the length of time would indicate it certainly hasn’t triggered any cause for immediate concern

Sounds very normal, try not to worry x

Yes. It doesn't sound like there in a rush to see you at all from that x
