Last 5 times of using ive had to go and retrieve my food due to lost drivers, messages not responded to.

Latest time dtiver knocking on neighbours doors but unable to articulate that they were lost bevause of zero command of English

They want either shutting down or imploring to hire people with at least some grasp of English

I use Deliveroo every week and I’ve never had a problem. The driver’s are fast and polite.

I think it depends on your area, my experiences have all been fine but I live in a capital city.

Disturbia81 · 07/12/2025 17:45

Yeah never had a problem, always been great. Must be area dependent

You could just go and get your own food if you don't like the service. Then you wouldn't have to throw any casual racism around.

OneGreySeal · 07/12/2025 17:46

Brilliant in my area, use them for groceries etc and they’re quick and polite.

Agree. I use Deliveroo regularly and only once had an issue which I got an instant refund for.

Mine get basic McDonalds orders wrong, but that’s more the restaurants than the driver.

I don’t use them because they were usually slow and rubbish. One driver refused to take his helmet off and refused to come any further than the gate so I had no idea what the issue was. He was afraid of dogs, but it took ages to realise this as his helmet muffled everything he said.

That would somewhat negate the point of a delivery food company.

I can't see any casual racism in OP's message.
It reads to me that these delivery drivers couldn't speak enough English to make themselves understood. How is that in any way racist? It implies they are not from the UK. Zero racism there. OP is simply stating the facts.

But it’d stop the casual racism.

We don't use them but we have neighbours who do. We live on a residential park and it's a bugger to find because it's behind a car dealership and not particularly easy to navigate especially at night and a couple of weeks ago there were three bags of deliveroo food just chucked behind my car because they obviously didn't know where to go. God knows why they didn't ring the person whose food it was. I suppose if they don't speak English there'd be no point.
I was going to ring but fortunately the site owner came along and sorted it.

My family own two takeaways and we have never used any food delivery service. The food is significantly more expensive even before the delivery charge and then it’s hanging around for ten minutes before it’s collected. Half the sales come from uber eats and just eat so we pretty much are locked in. Fish and chips is £11 in the shop and £18 on uber eats.

We used to employ our own drivers for one of the takeaways and the other one didn’t do deliveries but people are so used just having the apps for the delivery services that if you don’t use them you are left behind.

I live near a small town, and have no problems, apart from occasionally at night when its dark, they get confused because the living room is up on the first floor of a three storey house, so they think no-body is there because sometimes the light is off before I get downstairs to greet them.
