It's 8pm in December- what the hell are you expecting? Of course it's dark!

mumofoneAloneandwell · 06/12/2025 19:58

Yabvu

caramac04 · 06/12/2025 19:59

At nearly 8pm yabu but the grey gloomy days are miserable.

PandoraSocks · 06/12/2025 19:59

Only a couple of weeks and then the days will start getting longer.

CotBedMug · 06/12/2025 19:59

Go for a walk and enjoy all the Christmas lights 😁

Celestialmoods · 06/12/2025 20:00

YANBU, but it’s only a couple more weeks until solstice and it won’t be long before we can see the days getting longer again.

GarlicBreadStan · 06/12/2025 20:00

I love it. It actually makes me feel safer and cosier

Pavementworrier · 06/12/2025 20:03

I fear the only solution is to eat healthily and act like it's summer but aaaaaa
Hate this
So bloody long until bedtime

That's a good point

Love the dark nights. But really annoying that its still pitch black at 7.30am!

user1471453601 · 06/12/2025 20:06

Ach. I just enjoy the seasons. Yes we have five months of dark(ish). But we get seven months of light.

I quite enjoy putting the lamp on at 3:30 in the afternoon, having a coup!e of weeks of twinkling lights when the Xmas tree goes up, the feeling of "getting back to normal" in January. And before you know it, the snow drops are out and the crocus. Then you get the joyful daffodils and tulips.

seasons are here to be enjoyed.

I'm so sorry you cannot enjoy them.

ErrolTheDragon · 06/12/2025 20:06

Maybe the answer is to emigrate to the tropics? But then you won’t get long light summer evenings.

I know it's annoying. I guess the answer is half the year here half the year in Australia or sthg.

It’s why Christmas/winter solstice was invented/where it is, to give light in the gloomier months… allegedly!! 😂

BurglarAndSwag · 06/12/2025 20:10

I rather likes it... 😁

EchoedSilence · 06/12/2025 20:10

I hate the dark evenings too. Roll on Spring.

Same here

Bigideas · 06/12/2025 20:14

I hate it too but only when it is peak short days. Getting up and trying to do my outside jobs in the dark is horrible. Can't wait for the lighter mornings (from 6am) and evenings that are still light at 7pm. That'd do me nicely.

Talkinpeace · 06/12/2025 20:16

Move to the tropics ?

Every part of the earth has the same number of hours of daylight averaged over a year

sciaticafanatica · 06/12/2025 20:18

I love October to February and use it as a reset.
im in the hour so I’m productive and do things that need or want to do.
i do walk daily for fresh air and nature and then Cosy up

RescueMeFromThisSilliness · 06/12/2025 20:18

What's the answer? Wait a fortnight.
