My boss is in fact a dickhead. My question is where would you place them on the 1-10 scale of being a dickhead, with 1 being an amateur and 10 being a 5 star, fully fledged dickhead?

Today in an across departments meeting, his introduce yourself and chat question for everyone was 'If you thought you were going to die in the next 12 months, what would you do and why?'. Cue lots of ideas of spending sprees, holidays and what they'd do if they got a cancer diagnosis. Dickhead boss laughing and facilitating the discussion. Until the fuckwit looked in my direction, saw my face and the horrified faces of my colleagues, and the penny finally dropped. Probably not the best 'opener' when your employee is currently in the middle of cancer treatment.

I'd put them at a 20.

He changed the subject then kept trying to involve me in the following discussion, in a 'please make it look like you're over it' kind of way. I just kept saying, I have nothing to add. To be honest, I wasn't even listening, I was focussing on not completely breaking down in front of everyone. But I left and came home straight afterwards. I have more surgery next week so I now have no intention of returning before the New Year. I was feeling guilty about the time off, but that's now evaporated, so maybe he's done me a favour.
