To ask for advice about my stomach!

I suffer with upper central stomach pain, especially when stressed, since my teens. Last year it was horrendous and my bloods were not quite right either so I was sent for an endoscopy- which showed nothing thank goodness.
I’ve been ok for a while but I’ve been stressed again lately and my diet hasn’t been great.

for a week now I’ve had this upper central pain, I can only eat small amounts of plain food and get worse pain after, persistent nausea and acid. I’ve got famotidine and gaviscon, and just trying to ride it out but I’m at my wits end. I think the GP will just say continue what I’m doing and probably won’t send me for another endoscopy as my last was only 18 months ago?

does anyone else suffer with this (gastritis?) what do you do- do you have similar symptoms?

Have you tested for allergies and intolerances? I only ask because I have suffered from upper central stomach pain for 15+ years. So painful! It was investigated as a teen with an endoscopy but nothing really came of it. I put it down to perhaps being a bit stressed related because there didn't seem to be a reason.

Anyways, years later (as in only just recently in the last 6 months) I did one of those allergy and intolerance test kits and it came back that I was highly intolerant to 2 things in my daily diet and not necessarily things I would have expected. I cut them out and it's been transformative- no more pain (I was in pain pretty much daily and for hours)

So unless you've already had testing for intolerance/allergies by the Dr, I'd recommend getting it done and seeing if it throws up anything unusual that you hadn't considered. Honestly it's made such a difference and I can tell now when I've accidentally consumed something with one of my intolerances because I start getting that pain back within the hour.

You could try a PPI (omeprazole, lansoprazole etc. ) as well as or instead of famotidine. Once on them though, they are the devil to get off. Whatever you take, take it every day.

Were you tested for H pylori?

Meditation, yoga or other relaxation exercises.

Then it's just a case of noting if certain foods make it worse. I've cut out refined sugars, fatty food, acidic foods and very spicy foods.

A low fodmap diet and probiotics helped one of my friends.

Edit: no alcohol

It’s probably food related if you’re eating bad.
