I suspect it is going to be a day of financial worry for people, so I thought it might be a bit cheerful to hear what small day to day things give people a lift or make them feel good.

Here's my three that I've already enjoyed this morning:

  1. Hot shower - never ceases to be a joy for me
  2. Stunning winter sunrise viewed from the train into work this morning
  3. Really good coffee from the very fancy pants work coffee machine

Let's be having them all! 😀

Dozens of birds at the feeders in my garden, which I can see out of the living room window 😊🐦

Inahuff · 26/11/2025 08:33

We've recently moved into a high flat and the view of the island across the water is just stunning. I'm feeling blessed 😊

I have been helping my 52 year old DD with a problem she has with her FIL. She sent me a text saying “using your moral compass, what would you do about this?”

Today I got two wonderful thank you texts, one from her and one from SiL.

It has made me feel, valued, loved and very grateful.

Abracadabra12 · 26/11/2025 08:37

The view from my train is beautiful too - Peckham never looked so picturesque before!

Holluschickie · 26/11/2025 08:38

Coffee and hot baths with nice soap
Walks by the river
Binging " Damages" on ITV which I missed
Trips to the library
Reading Horowitz's latest

MyIvyGrows · 26/11/2025 08:54

Winter sunrises
hot coffee
working my way through Toni and Ryan Podcast which makes me laugh until I cry
DIY manicure in the evening whilst watching TV
Winter accessories and my favourite scarf, a houndstooth wool scarf which my gran bought me years ago and reminds me of her

ccquad · 26/11/2025 09:26

Beautiful sunrise over the village church.
Loving the freedom m y new off-road wheelchair gives me.
I'm about to go to a wreath-making workshop.

alatusblack · 26/11/2025 09:33

A proper winter morning in my garden. Frost on the branches, low sun lighting the borders beautifully, the air smells crisp and dry, reminds me of my childhood winter days.

lostmywayrightnow · 26/11/2025 09:37

My heated blanket. A crisp walk with the dog (albeit cold but still pretty).

SeaAndStars · 26/11/2025 09:45

I woke up with a headache and DH brought me a cool flannel for my forehead and a cup of coffee. Feeling much better now.

curly100 · 26/11/2025 09:48

Also had a beautiful winter sunrise this morning. Have been getting out early doors so far this week to get any out of the house jobs done first thing. This morning I passed the empty school buses coming away from the secondary school and they're displaying 'Merry Christmas' rather than the usual 'Out of Service' which made me smile. (I messaged DD, who finished secondary school this year, to tell her - the fact that's she's smashing her first semester at uni is another thing I'm extremely grateful for as it wasn't a foregone conclusion, she has diagnosed autism and undiagnosed but likely ADHD but she's found her tribes and her independence is amazing)

hattie43 · 26/11/2025 09:55

Yes it’s the small wins that make life bearable . Mine today has been a gorgeous frosty walk with the dogs crunching through the leaves , then a coffee . Love my forays into nature .

MargoLivebetter · 26/11/2025 11:48

Loving all of these, thank you. Any more?

Same here @hattie43. DS3 and I wrapped up warm and took the dog for a walk this morning. Sun shining. Everything sparkling from the frost. We took seeds to feed the ducks and a little robin came along for a snack too. Then went for a coffee and babycino after.

Posithor · 26/11/2025 11:59

It's my last month of maternity leave with my last baby, Im sat snuggled on the settee with her asleep on me and I intend on staying here until she wakes up 😂

PullingOutHair123 · 26/11/2025 12:03

Like many others, beautiful sunrise this morning. My DS was singing before school (this is unusual, he is not a morning person!) and a wonderful starling? murmuration in the sky on the way to work

(Apologies to all the cars behind as I realised I slowed quite a lot to watch it!)

GingerPaste · 26/11/2025 12:03

Having a lie-in on my day off.
Washing my hands in hot water (don’t know why it feels so good).
Being able to memorise a journey (22 miles) and get there without a Satnav (I hope!!)

I also love sunrise and sunsets. Had a walk in the snow the other day, sadly it didn’t lay but it was so pretty coming down.

My house plants getting a new leaf and actually not dying 😂

Sneaking in an afternoon nap, snuggle with my husband as he works nights.

Looking forward to going to get our Xmas tree, and putting my old style multicoloured cheery lights on my outside tree.

Jellycatspyjamas · 26/11/2025 12:20

Snuggling with the dog during my lunch break, and chocolate cake with my DD at her school coffee morning.

TheatricalLife · 26/11/2025 12:25

Oh yes, you absolutely have to.
I have this moment during the day on weekdays when I have the house to myself and it's just quiet and peaceful. DH at work, kids at work and college. I sit and have a hot drink before I start WFH and it's lovely.
Reading my book before I go to sleep.
Washing hanging on the line in the sun -I find it so satisfying.

TheeNotoriousPIG · 26/11/2025 12:39

The fact that my hat somehow still smells of Lenor's Gold Orchid, despite having spent three days on my head while I work on a farm 😂

Pennyfan · 26/11/2025 13:04

A good night’s sleep last night.
An early morning cup of tea from dh before he left for work-it’s my day off.
A walk through the frosty park and woods followed by coffee and toast and homemade marmalade.

Thank you for starting this thread-it really is the small pleasures which oil the wheels of life-it will certainly not be a Feel Good Budget so we have to take the pleasures we can get and have compassion for people whose life is hard for whatever reason.
