Pissed off with bv

So I have BV again. Had a course of metronidazole and it hasn’t cleared up , again. Now been prescribed Clindamycin as a vaginal gel for 7 days. Has anyone else had this and does it work? I’m so pissed of with it now.
ive had every tests going an all come back normal apperently some women are more susceptible to it 🙄

I've had this in the past and the clindamycin worked well. It did upset my stomach a bit tho, IIRC. I always keep Balance Activ gel in the house - I use after sex and usually for a couple of nights after my period.

Metronidazole is the absolute pits 🤮 make sure you've not got thrush after taking it - my GP told me it didn't cause thrush bout another one said it certainly could.

I swear by Boric acid suppository’s. Haven’t had any issues since I started using these . I now just use one a week to keep everything good down there.

How old are you?

My continuous BV stopped when I started using oestrogen cream.

Unfortunately some women just have an imbalanced PH that likes to stay imbalanced. Even when 'treated' the bad bacteria just regrow. Apparently vaginal probiotics are good but have to be used for months and like you said I can't be bothered shoving those up the van constantly. Do you have triggers that cause it for you?

NovemberRedHolly · 25/11/2025 17:09

My BV stopped when I split up with my ex. Sex was triggering it almost every time but he’s the only man I’ve ever had that problem with.

SaintAgatha · 25/11/2025 17:24

Interestingly, I’ve not had a flare up of BV since I started Mounjaro. No idea why!

twolittles · 25/11/2025 17:25

you need probiotics there are specific strains that are good for vaginal microbiome balance.

Tink3rbell30 · 25/11/2025 17:30

Won't let me edit my comment to say vag not van 😂

BashfulClam · 25/11/2025 17:46

The only thing that cured mine strangely was the mini pill.
