Has been in the fridge all the time. Husband bought on the 16th in Aldi and didn’t notice it was 2 dats past the used by?

if not; what is the best way to dispose?

If you’ve got the receipt you could take it back

PauliesWalnuts · 24/11/2025 19:31

It’ll be fine. If it’s still sealed especially. Do the sniff test just to make sure, but beef can be hung for weeks - you’ve probably got another four or five days.

sleepylittlebunnies · 24/11/2025 19:31

It’ll probably be fine. I use beef well past its use by date. Open it up and smell it first.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 24/11/2025 19:31

They age them for 29-odd days in a fridge before selling,

Open it.

If it smells like steak, eat it.

If it smells like cleaning fluids or death, don't.

Bobiverse · 24/11/2025 19:32

Our Aldi are really bad for having out of date food on the shelves, so they’d let you swap it with no issue. But maybe not this long after, I would usually notice within a day or two. It’s unusual to leave steak sitting for over a week without even checking the date to know if it will last.

Hohofortherobbers · 24/11/2025 19:33

If the seals not broken i reckon it'll be ok, meat gets that sheen if its off so you'd be able to tell. Its already 28 days matured, whats a few more days??

Hohofortherobbers · 24/11/2025 19:33

Maybe dont have it too rare though

Bestmoonlove · 24/11/2025 19:41

Thank you. I am cooking it

@Bestmoonlove how was it?

KnickerlessParsons · 25/11/2025 18:51

Good beef is hung for weeks before it’s sold and eaten. Does your steak smell ok? It’ll most likely be fine.

mamagogo1 · 25/11/2025 18:54

I’d eat it, done steak is aged longer than that

Bung it in a canal... your alimentary canal 👍😋
