Deduction from earnings for child maintenance taking ages

Posting for traffic. Ex hadn’t been paying the correct amount so he has now got a deduction from earnings order. He works for the NHS in England incase relevant.
The NHS took money out of his wages at the end of September and again at the end of October but I’m yet to receive anything. The CMS told me I’d get the money yesterday. It didn’t arrive and they said the employer hasn’t sent it to them yet and I need to wait until Friday before they will chase up the employer.
Has anyone else been through this and if so how long did it take to get payments up and running? There’s a large sum of arrears being added on to the payments that will be nice when it finally gets paid after a year of not getting the right amount. Taking the maintenance directly from his earnings was supposed to make things better, not worse in the short term. It’s so frustrating.
