to cancel my birthday

I'm just trying to organise something for saturday. If the weather is ok I'd like a fancy picnic followed by a few pubs and bars. Thanks to facebook I have invited a load of people I don't really want to spend my birthday with. Would it be unreasonable to cancel the whole thing and then reinvite the few people I actually want to be there? Some people would have had to travel up from london (to edinburgh) but as far as I know only my sister has actually booked tickets.

I don't think it would be unreasonable as long as no-one would be out of pocket. HOWEVER, be prepared to be bitched about if those that aren't invited the 2nd time find out.

Personally, I'd be thinking the more the merrier. Esp if your going to the pub etc.

I'm not sure I care that much if I get bitched about! I would just like to have 3 or 4 close friends and my sister there, not 20 people I hardly know. I thought that as it is my last birthday in the UK (moving to NZ in jan) it would be nice to catch up with people I haven't seen for a while, but there is probably a reason we haven't kept in touch. Actually, I'm feeling a bit sad that I have so few friends, nobody I will really miss once I move.

beans - if your abit sad. Let them all come to the pub and have the picnic to just your close friends?

I don;t understand how you end up inviting people you don;t want there, I don;t get face book though.

I set up an event page on facebook and invited most of my 'friends' who are nearby. I think all the people who would be travelling would be reinvited, they are cousins and their partners and a couple of friends. God I'm such a bitch, there are just 2-3 people I really don't want to be there, it is a bit unreasonable to change everything because of them isn't it. I know they will definitely come though.
