Hi

I’m going forward for a laparoscopy for suspected endometriosis soon. I just wondered if anyone who’s had this procedure could talk me through what to expect?

Best surgery I ever had! Life changing.

Mine was a few years ago & in an Irish hospital so hopefully someone will also post to give you a more updated version.

Keyhole surgery.
Don't remember anything after anesthetic.
Stomach felt tender afterwards - not sore or painful, just a little delicate. (Similar to when I had my appendix out but not as bad).
I took two weeks off work as it was advised at the time & hospital issued sick note but really don't think it was needed.

I had two months injections afterwards, chemical memopause to reset everything.
I can't remember exactly but think I had a check up with the surgeon after 2 months and again after 6.

It made a huge difference to the pain (I used to pass out and cry with pain) and heaviness of my periods (flooding, hourly pad changes etc).

Periods now about 3 heavy days/2 light days (they used to be 9-11 heavy days) and the pain, while not full eliminated but is far more managable. I probably get about 3/4 flair ups a year and even then it's so much better than before.
